The video match officials will now receive an alert from a system known as "semi-automated offside technology," which will help the referees make offside decisions. For both stadium attendees and viewers of the broadcast on television, a 3D modelling graphic will also be shown.

With the new technology, 12 specialised tracking cameras are put beneath the stadium's roof to track the ball and up to 29 individual player data points, 50 times per second, determining their precise location on the field.
